Selby Stories is a exciting and innovative programme of arts and cultural events celebrating what makes Selby special and unique. We’d love you to join us and bring your friends, family and neighbours along too.
The fabulous programme runs until late 2023 and will include artist residencies, singing and song writing, projection, performance and music – in some familiar places but also unexpected, new and different spaces.
The programme has started with the appointment of both an artist in residence – Serena Partridge and a writer in residence – Sarah Butler. Visit the pages below to find out more about their work and upcoming events.
WE HAVE ALSO LAUNCHED SELBY IN MINECRAFT!
Selby Stories is the cultural programme for the Selby High Street Heritage Action Zone. The HSHAZ is part of a government-funded initiative led by Historic England. It aims to breathe new life into local high streets, from regenerating historic buildings to engaging local communities through art and cultural projects. Selby is one of more than 60 high streets in the country to receive a share of funding from Historic England, along with funding from Selby District Council.
Selby Stories is supported by The Selby Cultural Consortium – local arts and cultural organisations led by Selby Abbey with Performing Arts etc, Selby Big Local, Selby Civic Society, Selby & District Disability Forum, Selby Library and Selby Town Council.
