Historic Market Towns

In Selby, the streets surrounding the Abbey offer a range of small, independent shops and eateries, with a growing food and craft beer scene in the town. Running through the heart of the town, the High Street is also home to several well-known brands and High Street names.

Selby boasts a weekly Monday market, a regular farmers’ markets, held on the third Saturday of each month and a whole host of other events too, including food, drink and beer festivals.

Markets and Festivals

The historic market and brewery town of Tadcaster is complete with independent shops, butchers, bakers and cafes, and surrounded by beautiful countryside. After a wander around the shops, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the River Wharfe, taking in the town’s listed 18th century bridge, before rewarding yourself with a spot of lunch and a pint of locally brewed ale.

Tadcaster boasts a weekly Thursday market, a monthly Cobbles Market for local traders and a whole host of annual events too.
