After all of the festivities and indulgence over the festive season, there could be no better way to feel energised and rejuvenated in the new year than focusing on our health and wellbeing.

There are plenty of opportunities in the Heart of Yorkshire to get out about in the great outdoors, enjoy a great family day out getting active, go swimming, or take that all important (and well overdue) time out for a spa break.

Cloisters Spa at The Parsonage Hotel, Escrick

Set in six acres of beautiful formal gardens between Selby and York, the Parsonage spa facilities include 5 treatment rooms, a 16 metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, large gym, sauna, steam room, aromatherapy and salt rooms.

Hazlewood Castle Hotel and Spa, Tadcaster

The Imagine Spa at Hazlewood Castle offers 4 treatment rooms, a manicure station, a relaxation room, Mud Rasul Chamber, and Thermal Spa (which includes a Finnish sauna, steam room and raindrop shower).  They have a range of packages, spa breaks and offers available.

Sherburn Aero Club, Sherburn in Elmet

Sherburn Aero Club is Yorkshire’s Premier Flying Club and Flight Training School and home to the famous Swordfish WWII aircraft. They offer a full range of pilot training, trial flying lessons and flying gift vouchers as well as being a flying club for their members.  They are open to the public and have a restaurant and bar with an outdoor area, ideal for a family day out. They welcome all to visit and enjoy the facilities that they have to offer and watch the world of aviation up close. They also have a programme of events throughout the year.

Sherburn Aero Club

Golf Courses

There are a number of quality golf courses across the Heart of Yorkshire.  In Selby you can enjoy the facilities at Drax Golf Club which is a “real hidden gem” or visit Scalm Park where you can not only enjoy a traditional game of golf but a game of footgolf too!  There is also a driving range available. In Tadcaster, Scarthingwell is home to Tadcaster Golf Club which has a reputation for its friendly and informal atmosphere and warmly welcomes members, guests, visitors and societies alike.

Selby Leisure Centre

Selby Leisure Centre is here to inspire health and happiness through participation in activities that encourage people to be active, creative and healthy. The centre has all the facilities you need to feel inspired, with state-of-the-art equipment in their gym, fitness classes, an outstanding 3G pitch, and two swimming pools.

Tadcaster Leisure Centre

Tadcaster leisure centre has all the facilities you need with a sports hall which you can hire for a game of badminton, a fully equipped gym and exercise studios.
